Alhures is a multidisciplinary studio dedicated to the investigation, dissemination and problematization of ethnographic heritage. We organize projects, exhibitions, events and publications that seek to reflect on the relationship between heritage and identity.
We base our work on theoretical concepts and techniques of data collection from the social and human sciences (ethnographic method, fieldwork, interviews, archival research), crossing the empirical with the critical dimension.
Our main purpose is to address the contemporary challenges and transformations of local practices and knowledges. In other terms: what is happening with tradition in times of globalization? The projects that we develop address the way people relate with the construction of cultural identities, especially when mediated through objects.
